Your files on every computer. No monthly bill.
PowerDrive keeps one folder the same on all your computers and your phone. Your files stay on the devices you already own, which is why it costs nothing to run and why they remain yours alone.
Why people move
You already own somewhere to keep your files.
Renting space for your own documents is a habit rather than a necessity. Your laptop has a disk. So does the computer in the other room, and the phone in your pocket. PowerDrive puts all of them to work.
Install it once, and that is the end of it
Cloud storage is rented, so the bill arrives again next month, and the month after, for as long as you want your own files. PowerDrive is a program you install. Your files sit on computers you already paid for, and keeping them there costs what it has always cost: nothing.
Your space is the space you already have
You are not buying gigabytes by the tier. A drive is as big as the disks in the computers you put it on, and it grows the day you get a bigger one.
They stay between your own machines
A file goes from your computer to your other computer and stops there. It stays out of any company's storage, beyond the reach of anything that would scan it, and safe from a change of terms about what you are allowed to keep.
Using it
It behaves like the folder you already use.
One folder, the same everywhere
A PowerDrive folder sits in your home folder like any other. Save into it on the laptop and it is on the desktop when you sit down. Any program can open it, and it behaves the way a folder always has.
Everything on your phone, without filling it up
Your phone lists every file you have. Open one and it arrives. Mark the ones you want with you and they are there whether you have signal or not.
Turn paper into a searchable PDF
Photograph a letter, a receipt or a lease with your phone. PowerDrive finds the page, straightens it, cleans it up and saves a PDF you can search for words inside.
Add a computer by holding up a code
One device shows a square code, the other looks at it, and the setup is finished. You invent no password, confirm no email and remember no account.
Keep a copy somewhere always on, if you like
To reach your files while your computers are asleep, PowerDrive can keep a spare copy in storage you rent yourself. It goes there locked, so the company renting it to you holds a jumble.
If you change the same thing twice
Edit it in two places, and keep both.
Work on the laptop on a train, change the same file on the desktop at home, and PowerDrive saves the second one beside the first, so every word you wrote in either place is still there.
Your files, yours
Locked on your device, before it goes anywhere.
Locked before it leaves
Every file is locked on your device before it travels, and your devices alone hold the key. Your devices turn it back into a file; to anyone else, including whoever rents you the storage, it stays a jumble.
Even the names
What a file is called and which folder it sits in are locked as well, so what travels gives away as little as the file itself.
There is nothing central to break into
Your drive is your own machines talking to each other. It is your own machines talking to each other, so a break-in somewhere else leaves you untouched.
Questions
What people ask first.
+Is it really free?
To run, yes. You install it on your computers and your files live there, which is something your own disks have always done for free.
+Do I need to make an account?
You add a computer by letting it look at a code the first one shows, and that is the whole of the setup.
+Where do my files actually live?
On your own computers and your phone. If you choose to add storage you rent yourself, a locked copy sits there as well.
+How much space do I get?
As much as the computers you put it on, and more the day you fit a bigger disk.
+What if I edit the same file in two places?
You keep both. The second one is saved next to the first and marked as a copy, so both are yours to keep.
+What happens when my computers are switched off?
They catch up when they come back on. If you want your files reachable at any hour, add the always-on copy.
+Which computers does it run on?
Windows, macOS and Android phones today.
+Can anyone else read my files?
Your files are locked on your device before they travel, and your devices alone hold the key. The names are locked as well.
Put your files back on your own computers.
Install it on one, then add the next by holding up a code. It is yours from that moment, with nothing to renew.
